Founder/Designer/Seamstress & Photographer Kristen Simons’ love of unique textiles brought her to the Apparel Design and Technology program at Minneapolis College over 15 years ago. Since then, she has taught numerous sewing classes, production sewn wool/bamboo hats for Piper Handcraft (Missoula, MT), assisted fashion designer C.J. Flint (NYC-Bainbridge Island, WA) on custom designs and alterations, designed and produced a line of eco-friendly accessories and also spent time working in a marine canvas fabrication shop, Island Canvas Works (Bainbridge Island, WA) patterning, constructing and sewing marine canvas products and completing repairs.

Left Hand Canvas upcycles waste-bound textiles into effortlessly stylish and functional accessories. Products are made in small batches in Sequim, Washington combining old sails with vintage, natural fibers and waxed canvas to create unique pieces that will stand the test of time.
